LITTLE BIRD-RELEASE!

I have been waiting, VERY impatiently, to write this post!  Today is the day folks.  LITTLE BIRD written by M. Dauphin and H.Q. Frost is live today!
I took my time reading the ARC of this book.  Why?  It's one of those books you never actually want to end.  Warning: if you like sappy love stories, this book is not for you. In fact, you will more than likely find yourself sitting in a corner, rocking back and forth, asking yourself why.  However, if you love losing yourself into a dark romance, you MUST read LITTLE BIRD!

Even if that means contacting his estranged father.

Snippet 1:

Drew left his drum set with the onset of drunken boos. They had played to this crowd more than once and every time they ended up playing most of the night. Normally he would have no problem. Music was his life. But if he had to choose between playing until three in the morning and making sure Lana got home safely. He would always choose her. This was a first for him.

He caught up to her as she took the last step off the front porch. “Hey, where are you taking off to?”

Lana shot an annoyed look over her shoulders. “Home.”

“Where are your friends?” He quickened his steps to meet her pace.

“Ricky is doing his best to hook up with some guy and I have no idea where Tracie is.”

Drew could only imagine where Tracie had taken off to. These parties were always tame compared to most but drugs had been known to make their way through the doors.

“Let me take you home,” he offered, knowing he would not accepted a refusal.

“I can walk.”

“No.” He reached out to take her hand and thanked God when she did not slap him. “I’ll take you home. It’s no problem.”

Snippet 2:

Brows wrinkled in confusion, Lana slowly crept out to the locker area. Her heart pounded. It was crazy really. Someone probably left something and came back in to get it. It was a gym, that kind of thing happened multiple times a day. Still, she could not help the fear that edged its way in.

Her breath caught in her chest and she came to a complete, sudden stop. The dirty clothes, along with the clean outfit, she left spread on the bench, were gone. In their place sat three red roses. Each had a message.

You are mine.

Never forget.

Megan

“You won’t pull the trigger, you little cunt,” Rod threatens.

I don’t hear the ricocheted shot until I’m sprayed with blood and my heart seems to thump with the reverberation.
“Meggy!” shrieks from Judith’s mouth.
“Fuck you, mom.” My arms pivot with my words until I’m aiming the gun into the face of the woman that gave birth to me. The woman that was supposed to love and protect me, not get me high enough to numb my body and mind to lay lifeless while the most perverse of men sat by watching the incestual acts she did to me for money.
There’s no hesitation pulling the trigger and I watch her eyes cross before her body falls back with the momentum of the bullet.
“Bird?” Jasper’s voice fills my head. “Is it done?”
“They’re dead.” It doesn’t feel like I’m the one that said it, but I’m the only one in the room right now. Blood splattered, cold, afraid, and now alone until Jasper comes for me.
“You’re in, Little Bird.”
The call disconnects.
